Appley Repair has been a fixture in Shelby since the late 70’s.  It began as Bob’s hobby while working his maintenance job at the hospital a long time ago!  Bob could fix ANYTHING!  As the shop evolved his nephew Tom was always around and helping here and there!  Bob and Hattie were always active with chamber activities.  Hattie attended chamber meetings for years and held many of the chamber offices!  Bob and Hattie were great supporters of Shelby and rarely missed a home football or basketball game!

In December of 1988 Tom went to work for “Uncle Bob”, they would work side by side for many years until Bob landed in a wheelchair!  Bob would still order pats, chase parts and handle the customers until 2016 when Tom took the shop over!  Tom chose to continue on as Appley Repair, and he still prides the shop name on customer service and diagnosing and fixing your vehicle right the first time!  The shop is almost always open as he is a one man show, friendly and committed to Shelby.  Tom was raised in Shelby, raised his family here!  And continues to support home as much as he can!  Thanks for the shout out Shelby Chamber of Commerce!

Appley Repair I choose for this week’s feature.  Last few features have been centered around healthcare, which is very important.  However, small business America is just as important in my book for a solid economy.  Appley Repair is exactly that, a small business that provides a service that every community needs.  Vehicles breaking down or plain needing to be worked on is just a fact of life, as frustrating as it might be when it does happen.  Nice to know there is a repair shop to get you back on the road whether just going back and forth to work, going on a road trip, or going to the grocery store.

Since moving to Shelby, I’ve learned who’s who and such of all the people around.  Still learning something every day.  A common theme I've heard about Appley Repair is Tom does very good work.  Reputations mean a lot, especially in a small town, and he has earned that over the years while turning wrenches!!  While Appley Repair is not on main street Shelby to visually see the business, that's another reason I like to highlight the business.  It's off the beaten path and when someone needs auto mechanics work done, don’t overlook the shop up on the hill!!  As Angie wrote, Appley Repair has been a part of the Shelby Chamber for many years in one way or another.  Lindsay, daughter of Tom & Angie, is continuing the tradition by carrying the torch at the moment while serving as the Treasurer of the Chamber.  Thank you to everyone associated with Appley Repair for playing a big part in helping make Shelby the great little town it is!!
