The Whistle Stop Bakery & Coffee Shop is located on the East end of Main Street in Shelby. They are a family owned business that opened in November 2022.

Everyday you can expect fresh baked cinnamon rolls, scones, muffins, cookies, brownies and more! They proudly serve Montana Coffee Traders coffee and take pride in serving you the perfect cup of coffee. If you need a quick lunch you can grab a chicken salad sandwich served on a freshly baked croissant. If you need a cold treat they serve Cup of Soul’s Farm to Table ice cream which is made in Columbia Falls, MT with local ingredients.

The baker behind the scenes is Monique. She learned to love baking after watching her Grandma Betty bake growing up. Many of the recipes she uses are recipes her grandma has passed along to her.

The Bakery does accept special orders. One of Monique’s favorite things is when someone allows her to have creative freedom with their order and trust her to be part of their special event in a small way. They would want to encourage you to place your orders as far in advance as possible - she does fill up quickly.

Their current hours are Tuesday-Saturday 7:00a to 2:00p but will be modifying their hours beginning August 28th to Monday-Friday 7:00a to 2:00p.

Who doesn’t enjoy a fresh pastry or cinnamon roll??  Not many people can say that they don’t enjoy that!  I know I enjoy a sweet cinnamon roll, and I will vouch that the selection and taste of the Whistle Stop is top notch.  Kudo's to Ryan & Monique starting up this nice little business.  From my office at the Chamber the Whistle Stop is Kiddy corner across the street, from my observations many other people feel the same way as there are always cars parked in front with a steady flow of people going in and out of the bakery.

The McDermott’s are always friendly when I go in there along with the staff they have hired, which is always key in any customer based business.  Keep up the good work!

I would also like to add, the Whistle Stop did not hold back when they became members of the Chamber earlier in the year.  Being a new business, they became members of the Chamber right away during the enrollment period this spring.  It was also time of the year I was setting up my first banquet as Director for the Chamber.  Ryan & Monique purchased a table along with extra tickets so their employees and family could attend. Thank you for helping make my first banquet super successful!!  I look forward to working with them in the future!

If any of you reading this have not been in the bakery yet, you need to go in and check it out.  You will not be disappointed!
