Not many businesses get started accidentally, but that’s exactly what happened with Big Sky Creative Works in 2011. Barbie was looking for a new “hobby” and stumbled across creating cut vinyl decals and then using those decals to create custom decorative signs for friends and family for gifts. Lots of research on the topic led her to see the potential and take the leap, purchasing commercial equipment for those projects and things took off from there! Initially the business was limited to simple decals and custom signage purchased by friends and acquaintances and it quickly evolved into offering custom apparel, signage and more. Eventually, the business grew so much that Dave left his painting contractor business behind and took over much of the hands-on production of items Big Sky Creative Works was selling.
Over time, the equipment and product lines expanded with the addition of a larger format printer, sublimation, various heat presses and a laser. Big Sky Creative Works is well known for offering custom apparel for individuals, teams, community groups and businesses offering everything from t-shirts and hoodies to hats, beanies, etc. Business
signage ranges from wall, window and vehicle decals to posters and banners, interior and exterior business signs and more. We offer a wide variety of custom drinkware and giftware with fun graphics or business logos. No order is too large or too small. Big Sky Creative Works also does a lot of work with area businesses to create exclusive merchandise for them to sell in their own business. We really enjoy cruising around town and taking note of graphics we have provided in our community and beyond. One of our business highlights was working with the local community on our exclusive “Fight of the Century” product line to commemorate the 2023 Centennial of the Dempsey Gibbons World Championship fight right here in Shelby, Montana! Many of those products were shipped all over the US and even internationally!
Some folks come to us with completed designs and others come to us with an idea and we help bring those visions to reality. In this week's feature, Big Sky Creative Works, is a great small town/home based business that fills a need for various projects around the area. I have worked with Barbie on various projects and all have turned out great. Not only does Big Sky Creative Works fill the need for projects around the area, Dave & Barbie are community minded. Barbie has served on the Chamber Board of Directors, and has sponsored many events the Chamber Hosts throughout the year among many other community events! Thank You! I would like to make a plug for a couple of the events I have helped get started here in Shelby this last year on behalf of Big Sky Creative Works. The Job/Career Fair & the Activity Fair. For any business or organization who participates in these kinds of events here in Shelby or elsewhere, where a table or booth is displayed highlighting your business or organization. Barbie makes great banners and/or table clothes with your business/organization name or logos on them. Looks very professional for a really reasonable price! Keep up the good work Dave & Barbie!
