Marias River Electric Cooperative (MRE) has been powering our communities since 1945, bringing reliable and affordable electricity to the people of Toole, Pondera, and Liberty counties. As a member owned cooperative, we don’t operate for profit—we exist to serve you. We're guided by a nine-member board of directors who are elected by the members to make decisions that benefit our communities and keep the cooperative running smoothly.
Because we’re a cooperative, our focus is on giving back to our members. Whether it’s improving service, expanding infrastructure, or investing in our local areas, MRE is all about working together to make life better for the people of our service area.
We’d love to see you at our Annual Meeting on October 16th. Dinner, prepared by local 4H clubs, will be served at 6 p.m., followed by the business meeting at 7 p.m. at the Shelby High School. This is your chance to connect with fellow members and hear about the cooperative’s plans. Plus, we’ll have some exciting giveaways—including scholarship drawings for high school seniors whose parents or guardians are MRE members, and other great prizes. It’s a night you won’t want to miss, so come out and enjoy good food, good company, and a chance to be part of your cooperative!

In today's modern world having power/electricity is vital for all communities, obviously. Marias River Electric does a great job providing our area with the required power to maintain our way of life. The crew at MRE are great people to work on the projects Ive worked with them on. They are also community minded, our Chamber President, Shana Lee is one example of helping Shelby be the great little town we are that is employed at MRE. MRE also helps, sponsors, or donates to many good causes with the Chamber and other organizations/activities within the community, Thank You for contributing to Shelby!
The work the guys do I give them a lot of respect, credit, and kudos for. Not all days are nice and sunny. Going out into adverse weather conditions much of the time restoring the power, and the dangers the work involves in the daily tasks they perform. Thank you to those who do this on a daily basis and to the whole staff at MRE for doing what you do!
