NTI is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing free transportation (donations are always welcome) from Browning, Cut Bank, Shelby, Sunburst, and Conrad to Great Falls on Monday and Thursday every week. NTI offers round trip transportation from Conrad, Shelby, Cut Bank, Browning to Kalispell Monday and Thursday weekly. Wednesday we provide in town service for medical appointments and other services. NTI comprises Pondera County, Glacier County, Toole County, and the cities of Conrad, Cut Bank, and Shelby.

NTI is working to add an additional day for Shelby in town service. This will make it easier for our riders to make appointments for doctor visits. NTI is also working to add a dedicated in town service for Cut bank.

Ridership on Northern Transit buses reached almost 17,500 passengers in 2023. Our goal is to continue to grow ridership. Northern Transit is vital to so many people with no means of transportation in our communities.

NTI was Montana Transit of the year in 2018 and 2020. NTI was second runner up for the National Rural Transit Administration Award in 2022. These awards show NTI is providing first class service for the people in Northern Montana.

Northern Transit plays a critical involvement in the community of Shelby and across the Hi Line.  Providing transportation to individuals who may not have access to their own transportation is very important, for reasons listed above.  Not only that, I get calls all the time here at the Chamber Office from tourists traveling to Shelby via Amtrak on vacations or holidays.  I always give Northern Transit’s phone number for them to call as a possible option for consideration, if they are looking for transportation.

Over the last year I have gotten to know David Irvin well.  Whenever I need NTI assistance or have questions about a certain something, they have always been very pleasant to work with and community minded.  David has helped me out of a jam a couple of times last summer when I needed someone to water the main street flowers on short notice, he happily filled in.  I truly appreciated it!  Keep up the good work NTI!

If anyone is looking for a job opportunity or knows of anyone looking for a job opportunity.  Northern Transit is looking to hire someone helping David operate Northern Transit.  If so, contact David for more details.
