Adventure begins at your Library! The Collaborative Summer Library Program provides literacy-based programs for all ages. Toole County Library in Shelby will provide two separate summer reading programs: One for elementary school aged children and one for preschool aged children.
The preschool program will focus on letter recognition, but we’ll also be spending time outdoors playing games, drawing with sidewalk chalk, and blowing bubbles. The elementary kids will be given Adventure Passport Reading Logs at the beginning of our program. Their program will feature adventure-based games, artwork, a Lego challenge, and finish with a party on the last Monday of June.
Summer reading program for elementary school children starts Monday, June 3 from 2-3 p.m. in the afternoon. It will run every Monday through June 24. Then, the preschool program will begin Thursday, June 6 from 10-11 a.m in the morning. Preschoolers will meet every Thursday morning through June 27.

Toole County Library plays an important part in our community, as in any community. Offers a great opportunity to a great selection of books and programs for all ages. It’s been a while since I have had a feature business of the week. When the holidays rolled in last year everyone was busy with that regard, then super busy here at the Chamber over the spring. I'm happy to announce the return of the business of the week, and grateful to have the Toole County Library as the kick off feature. Seems I find myself at the Library often, Heidi is always happy to allow the Chamber to hang up Chamber event posters on their front windows. She and the staff at the Library do an excellent job running the facility along with being super helpful and friendly. I hope this feature helps spread the word about the summer programs going on at the Library. Heidi was also super gracious in connecting myself with Kavanaugh’s a few weeks ago, for myself to be included in the process of cleaning out the basement of the old newspaper building. There was a gold mine of old pictures in that basement the Kavanaugh’s donated to the Chamber that day!! Items like that are priceless. Thank You Heidi along with Kavanaugh's on that whole experience!
