The Shelby Fire Department was organized in 1913 by J.H. McFarlane. The department has been an important aspect of Shelby since its inception. Historically, the Shelby Fire Department has impacted the community through fire protection and community outreach. Over the years, fire equipment and personal protection equipment have changed over the years, but the department has adapted to these changes in a positive manner.
The department has 28 members. These members train very hard throughout the year to learn firefighting and life-saving techniques. The local volunteers are dedicated to respond to calls at all times of the day or night. These responders answer the call around 100 times per year on average.

Biggest News I want to share today is… Shelby Fire Department’s own Ron Buck will be this year's 2024 Grand Marshall for the Marias Fair Parade. Congrats Ron!! Well deserved honor to a great member of the community! Hope to see you all at the Marias Fair Parade on July 20th!
The Shelby Fire Department is an essential part of each community. Last winter proved just that when the fire on main street Shelby occurred. These guys did an excellent job fighting that fire in extreme cold conditions. We thank you for what all of you did that night!
The fire department is one of those things you hope you never have to call on for obvious reasons, but when you do need them, you're sure glad they are there to help!
The fire department is also community minded with other activities, such as their famous fish frys, BBQ picnic during the 4th of July, among other things. Even Chamber related items, they have helped with various activities and events such as the Zombie Fun Run, Chamber Banquet, & upcoming Color Run this week just to name some. Keep up the good work each and everyone of you do at the Shelby Fire Department and for our community.
The Fireman's BBQ over the 4th of July will start at 10:30 until 1:00 (or whenever the line ends).
